Power Industry Veterans Form New Company

New York, (April 2, 2012) Bob Kraft has formed Powerphase LLC (www.Powerphase.com) along with his business partner Pat Conroy.  Both are long time players in the power generation industry. Kraft was a co-founder and later president of the highly successful Power Systems Mfg. (PSM) of Jupiter, Florida which grew into a world leader in advanced gas turbine components and systems.  Conroy, formerly the SVP of PSM spent many years at Westinghouse and subsequently at Catalytica Energy Systems before joining Kraft at PSM in 2003.  Both left that company in 2010.  Before founding PSM Kraft was a jet engine technologist at Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Powerphase plans to manufacture unique power augmentation and energy storage systems designed to retrofit onto existing gas turbine power plants.  The products called Turbophase and Powerphase+, respectively, are based on several inventions in the field for which patents are being sought.Kraft, the majority owner and president of the new company, said “We’ve concluded that although a large potential market exists for peak power augmentation and energy storage integrated with gas turbines; the existing technologies fail to deliver an attractive economic return because of a combination of high capital costs and low efficiency.”  He continued, “I’ve been single-mindedly focusing on ways to overcome these hurdles and have developed a breakthrough product incorporating several new technologies that should change the business equation for owners of these machines.”The company’s initial headquarters are in New York City.  They plan to establish engineering and sales offices in South Florida.Powerphase is currently raising its first round of institutional capital and is in discussions with several potential investors.Learn more at https://powerphase.com.
